Who can get health insurance from Catch?
Catch offers individual (which cover people and families) health insurance coverage that's sold through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, also known as healthcare.gov. If you live in a state that uses the Federally Facilitated Marketplace, and you are qualified to purchase individual coverage, you can use Catch to apply for and enroll in health insurance.
If you receive qualified coverage from an employer (or through a family member's employer), you're covered by Medicare, or you receive care from TRICARE or the VA, you are not eligible to purchase health insurance on the individual marketplace through Catch. You can, however, still use the Wallet to store your health insurance information and use other features on Catch.
If you live in one of these states, you can use Catch to access your state's marketplace, store health insurance and doctor details, and (coming soon!) make premium payments towards your plan once you're enrolled. You are not able to enroll in plans directly through Catch.
Catch does not provide health insurance for businesses to offer their employees.
What plans are available?
Catch uses a technology infrastructure called "Enhanced Direct Enrollment" that was created by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services to provide access to all of the same insurance plans that are offered on healthcare.gov.
All of the plans that are offered by Catch (through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace) are Qualified Health Plans as defined by the Affordable Care Act. That means all of the plans cover 10 Essential Health Benefits and have all of the same protection (like coverage for those with pre-existing conditions) you would find if you purchased the plan on healthcare.gov.
You can find plans that offer various types of coverage. Typically, bronze plans have the lowest premiums but cover the least total medical cost and platinum plans have the highest premiums but cover the most total medical costs.
How do I get tax credits and subsidies I may qualify for?
Using Enhanced Direct Enrollment means that simply by applying for coverage through Catch, you'll have the option to apply for federal tax credits and cost-sharing reductions. You'll be asked to provide information about your income over the last year, and you'll find out real-time if there are savings you can put towards your health insurance premiums and other costs.
In 2018, more than 87% of people qualified for tax credits that lower premium costs dramatically.
What support can I get to choose the right plan?
Catch has a team of support staff and licensed insurance agents who are available to help you navigate choosing the right plan. We recommend using our in-app chat (located at the bottom right corner on most screens). You'll be able to chat with us at your own pace and keep a log of guidance so you can refer back while you're completing your application.
You also have the option to schedule a call with our licensed agents for issues that are unable to be resolved via chat.
What licenses does Catch have?
Catch is licensed to sell insurance and has licensed insurance brokers on staff to help guide you. You can see all of our licenses here.
What happens after I'm enrolled?
If you've enrolled in a plan through Catch, your health insurance information will be imported to your Catch profile.
If you have a life change like you move, have a change in income, or get married, please let us know right away. To do this, log into your Catch account.
If you have questions about your coverage you can contact Catch via chat on the app or website for general questions, or if you have more specific questions about coverage, you can call your insurance company directly.
